Split Bill helps people split expenses for trips, meals, and group events. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, use, retain, and protect.

Data we collect

Account data:Your display name, email address, and sign-in method (such as email and password or Google Sign-In). If you use Google Sign-In, we only use the basic account data Google provides (such as email, name, and a unique identifier) to create or access your account.
Event and shared-expense data:The names and descriptions of events you create or join, member display names, payment items, dates, amounts, currencies, payers, people sharing, notes, and settlement results.
Technical data:To maintain sign-in state and security, we use session cookies, CSRF tokens, and basic server logs such as request times, URLs, and error records.

How we use data

To provide account sign-in, Google Sign-In, and password reset features.
To create, display, and manage events, payment records, people sharing expenses, and settlements.
To provide event invitation links so other members can join.
To keep the service secure, debug issues, prevent abuse, and improve the experience.

How data is shared

We do not sell your personal data. Payment and member data in an event is shown to that event's members so shared expenses can be settled. The service may use essential third-party infrastructure such as hosting, email delivery, Google Sign-In, and Google Play distribution; those services process data only as needed to provide their functions.

Cookies and sign-in state

Split Bill uses essential cookies to maintain sign-in state, protect form submissions, and prevent cross-site request forgery. These cookies are required for the service and are not used for advertising tracking.

Data retention and deletion

You can delete your account from Account settings in the app or web version, or read the public account deletion information. After deletion, we remove your sign-in credentials, name, email, Google account link, password-reset data, and the events, payments, and split records you created.

If you have payment or split records in an event created by someone else, related amounts may be retained to preserve other participants' history and settlement accuracy. Your sign-in access and personal identifiers are removed and shown as “Deleted user”. To request an export, correction, or deletion assistance, use the contact details below.

Children's privacy

Split Bill is not designed for children. Where your jurisdiction requires guardian consent, obtain appropriate consent before use.

Data security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect data, including HTTPS, sign-in sessions, CSRF protection, and server access controls. However, no online service can guarantee absolute security.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The new last-updated date will be shown on this page.
